How Funengyuan is preparing its Chinese herbal formulations for JAKIM Halal certification and ASEAN compliance.
Halal compliance is the foundation of Funengyuan's Malaysian market entry, not an afterthought. As a Chinese herbal bio-technology company entering a majority-Muslim market, we have built our ASEAN operations around the requirements of JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia) and the MS1500:2019 Halal standard.
Our JAKIM Halal certification is currently in progress. Malaysian-bound formulations are being screened against MS1500 requirements — no porcine-derived or alcohol-derived excipients, segregated storage, and dedicated Halal handling procedures at our Klang Valley warehouse — with per-SKU certification files prepared ahead of market entry. This is complemented by NPRA product notification for health supplements and cosmetics, and SIRIM-aligned independent laboratory testing for heavy metals, microbial load and active-ingredient assays.
Traceability underpins the entire chain. Raw materials originate from 720,000 acres of organic cultivation bases and GAP-certified breeding facilities in China, with batch-level traceability from field to finished Malaysian retail unit. This means every product reaching a Malaysian consumer can be traced back to its cultivation origin, manufacturing batch and compliance documentation.
For Malaysian distributors, pharmacy partners and practitioners, this compliance architecture provides confidence that Funengyuan products are not only efficacious and well-formulated, but also prepared to meet the religious, regulatory and quality expectations of the local market. We continue to invest in local partnerships, advisory relationships and documentation to complete our Halal journey and expand responsibly across ASEAN.
